Fluorite

At 16 cm in length, and glowing a rich plum pink colour, this must surely rank as one of the finest Fluorite specimens to have been found at Cambokeels mine in Weardale. Not only is it large and staggeringly beautiful, but it is exceptionally well provenanced too, coming from the 340 level at the mine. The richness in colour of this Fluorite should not be underestimated, with extreme gemminess caused by the amazing translucency of the twinned crystals. The colour-infused Fluorite almost entirely coats one side of the specimen but on the reverse a series of large pyramidally terminated white glossy Quartz crystals rise up almost like a mountain range but opposite to the direction that perhaps one might expect. This is a phenomenal Weardale Fluorite for the most advanced of Fluorite collectors. Ex David Green Collection.
