Olivenite
Unknown Owner
This is a richly crystallized small miniature specimen of Olivenite - an iconic copper arsenate which was first described from Cornwall. It features fairly large crystals for the species - to 3.5 mm - as very dark olive-green glossy seed-like crystals. Labelled as from Wheal Gorland it shows the classic Wheal Gorland/Wheal Unity Great Gossan Lode assemblage of Olivenite cementing fragmentary Quartz veinstone. Several small cavities are lined with especially good crystals, so although admittedly a smaller specimen it is in fact very rich in this rare species. Ex Glyn Cunnick Collection.
