This is a rare small cabinet-sized specimen of pure crystallized Pyromorphite from the famous Bad Ems District in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Heavy and dense, the richness of this piece is easy to feel, but what of its aesthetic qualities? Well, the Pyromorphite forms a nearly 3 cm thick bed of chunky modified hexagonal prismatic crystals. There is undoubtedly damage to some of the crystals, but this has actually presented their remarkable internal zonation in colour. Externally, the crystals vary between a pale grey and pale beige colour and the largest reaches a whopping 2.1 cm in length. Internally, the colour zoning is striking, going from multiple shades of green and then yellow and occasionally orange with the outermost surface grey or beige. This is a fascinating Bad Ems specimen and super rich in terms of overall content of Pyromorphite.
