Vanadinite from Morocco, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Errachidia Province, Er-Rissani Cercle, Taouz Caïdat

Taouz is Morocco’s second best vanadinite locality after Mbladen. But don’t let that fool you—Taouz has produced some really top notch vanadinite specimens, and their look is very different from those from Mbladen. This 5.3 cm specimen is a beautiful example of what Taouz has to offer. The specimen consists of rounded aggregates of small, orange, highly lustrous vanadinite crystals. The overall shape of the specimen suggests that it might be a pseudomorph after a preexisting mineral, although there is no way to be sure what that might have been.
