Tucson, Arizona, USAMiargyrite -silver antimony sulphide - was first discovered at Neue Hoffnung Gottes mine in the early 19th century. This exceptionally rare larger specimen from the Type Locality is not only extremely well crystallized, but is extremely old too - bearing several old number labels including a very old no. 2981 linking to an old handwritten label probably dating to the 19th century. Its finely crystallized Quartz matrix with open cavities lined with small pyramidal crystals, upon which the dark grey Miargyrite and Pyrargyrite crystals are distributed is absolutely typical of this early locality. The crystals of Miargyrite and Pyrargyrite are very well formed with just minor age-related wear. Ex Institute of the University of Munster and from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
