Calcite with Aurichalcite
Stockton Mining District, Tooele Co., Utah, USA
9.5cm x 7.3cm x 5.3cm
This specimen may be unique. This mining district is known to produce both calcite and aurichalcite but we have never before seen anything with this unusual way of combining the two. The white calcite has a sparkling luster, tipped with aqua green aurichalcite, towards the bottom more aurichalcite forms a matrix for the tall stalactite-like calcite formations. A truly wondrous specimen from an old locality. Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Mary and Gardner Miller Calcite Collection, Victor Yount Calcite Collection
