Sculptural Scheelite: an aesthetic Scheelite crystal sitting on a sculptural matrix of Albite and Muscovite from China
I know crystals up to 10cm or even larger, but then quality goes down and assemble is not really aesthetic. Overall - like at most localities - hand sized specimen are best. This one shows a very attractive base of Albite and Muscovite. In the middle it became very thin and finally - at the top - you can see this amazing isolated, exposed crystal in remarkable dimension ( it is 3,70 cm across) and quality is really perfect!
It is highly lustrous, razor sharp terminated and shows the very best color you can imagine for the mineral - a dark, strong orange color!
Even a part of the backside is developed and only a small area is grown to mother-rock! In fact this is the most aesthetic Scheelite specimen I ever saw from the locality, really superb!
To the right hand side of the main crystal you can see a small group of Muscovite - to the left hand side we have a group of white, well developed Albite crystals. It is a fantastic assemble.
Location: From Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
