This unusual combination of Wavellite on Turquoise is from a rarely seen Cornish locality. Hensbarrow China Clay Pit was active during the 1960s and 1970s and had a well-known vein of Turquoise exposed, but was consumed by the expanding neighbouring Gunheath Pit a decade later. This miniature specimen stands out because of the brightly coloured Turquoise, but it is the Wavellite that is richly crystallized, forming a fairly extensive 2.5 mm thick crust of white silky acicular crystals. This is especially rich for Cornish Wavellite and unlikely to be repeated. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection.
