Chalcosiderite
Unknown Owner
I am always surprised by how Wheal Phoenix Chalcosiderite gets overlooked, or undervalued, when they are in essence the best-of-species. From an amazing discovery during the 1870s and 1880s, the richness of the crystals and sometimes in quite large displayable specimens is remarkable. This small cabinet-sized specimen is richly invested in dark forest-green Chalcosiderite as sparkling glossy platy microcrystals aggregated in rosettes coating and lining cavities within iron-oxide rich gossan. The quality is superb and it displays extremely well. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2002.037.
