The Merelani Mine in Tanzania has produced a limited amount of really exceptional Prehnite and this gorgeous miniature is one of those pieces. The mine (this is probably from the D Block Mine) is known more for its Tanzanite crystals and rare mint-green Tsavorite Garnets, but some of the best, bright yellow-green Prehnite comes from here. This stunning miniature features a complete ring of super lustrous, very gemmy, yellow-green Prehnite encircling a partial Quartz crystal at one end and a spray of silky, off-white Pectolite at the other for great effect! The Prehnite is so transparent, in fact, that the white minerals that are being enclosed can almost be discerned and they certainly brighten the interior of the Prehnite. The piece displays gorgeously since so much light comes through it. The tightly clustered Prehnite crystals have their terminations exposed around the it and just scintillates with any incident light. An impressive miniature for Prehnite from ANY locality.
