Cobaltite
Unknown Owner
Two bright metallic crystals of Cobaltite - cobalt arsenic sulphide - measuring to 1.1 cm in size stand proud of a small cabinet-sized Calcite-Chalcopyrite matrix from the famous historical Swedish occurrence at Tunaberg. The two crystals of Cobaltite form complex isometric habits with bright silvery metallic faces and classic surface striations. The larger of the two crystals is incomplete, but the second crystal (measuring 8 to 9 mm across) is a stunner. A fantastic display specimen of Cobaltite from this famous European location. We do not know when this specimen was collected, but most of this quality were recovered during the earliest years of the 19th century. Ex Martin Bohaty collection.
