A busy group of bright, mid-emerald-green Beryl crystals of the variety Emerald from the Guavió-Guatéque Mining District in the Boyacá Department of Colombia. The brilliant and lustrous hexagonal crystals range from a few millimetres to 3.2 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm and lay flat in a bed of small blades of snowy-white Albite crystals. The Emeralds are mainly translucent but have small transparent zones in parts. Interestingly, two bands of lamellar black shale are embedded within the Albite, this being a common association with Emeralds in this region. A great miniature of the Emerald variety of Beryl from Columbia.
