Legrandite

Measuring just under 7 x 4 x 2 cm, the rare zinc arsenate, Legrandite, forms fine radial sprays of acicular, bright lemon yellow crystals from the Ojuela mine at Mapimí in Durango, Mexico. It is probably from the spectacular find made at this mine during the 1970s. Other Legrandite crystals from a beige coloured matrix, from which the displays emanates. The Ojuela mine is one, if not the most famous mine in Mexico, known for its 143 recorded species and type locality to seven. Such specimens of Legrandite are now becoming quite rare and are difficult to find.
