In the same collection since it was found, this legrandite specimen with stunning intense color is from the single most famous pocket and style of the species: the November 1977 pocket that included the famous Aztec Sun Legrandite (and as far as context: we have held that piece in 2010; sold it; and it now resides in the MIM Museum Beirut). This specimen is a large thumbnail, or small miniature sized when upright. It is a unique, immediately identifiable style of crystallography combined with luster and color. We would know this pocket anywhere, but pieces seldom turn up today and other legrandites have other shapes and colors...not the same as this metallic sunflower hue. The crystals are almost metallic - it is hard to find another word to describe the effect of such intense color and saturated color. The crystals are really a golden-yellow, not a lemon yellow color: the specimen, when set up in a case and llit well, literally GLOWS with color. This is a fine, competition level thumbnail specimen from the long-held collection of Jean Smith (founder of the Rocksmiths dealership which I grew up buying from, as did so many collectors of my own generation in the 1980s-90s).
