Anatase with Albite and Quartz
A 3 mm clove brown Anatase crystal nestles in a small cleft next to colourless Quartz crystals and several micro-crystals of white Albite Feldspar. This is typical Alpine-style mineralisation from Twll Maen Grisial near to the village of Prenteg in Gwynedd, Wales and from the type locality for Brookite. The Anatase is equant and stubby, with sharp faces and subtly striated faces. The right hand side of the crystal has a curious sawtooth habit and from many angles has a metallic blue lustre. A lovely small miniature which was once in Richard Barstow's personal collection and comes with one of his much sought after white labels.
