Perhaps the most aesthetic rutilated quartz thumbnail I have seen, this is a gorgeous combination piece whose value lies in that combination of 3 species, in balance: hematite, quartz, and rutile. The quartz point is gem and transparent, approx. 2 cm. While we see numerous small rutilated quartz crystals, that simply does not make them competitive and worthy, par for par with other fine thumbnail specimens of other species. It is the combination that elevates a piece like this, although you could as equally label it a "Hematite with Rutilated Quartz" as much as a "Rutilated Quartz with Hematite."
