This fabulous blue Sapphire crystal, a variety of Corundum , is from the classic Sri Lankan locality in Ratnapura District. The hexagonal-sectioned prism bears deep, horizontal striations around its faces and its translucent interior alternates between inky blue and pale sky blue. The entire crystal exhibits a magnificent, glassy lustre. The 4.2cm long Sapphire crystal is gemmy light blue with colourless areas interspersed through it. Displaying a high luster with typical tapering habit and striated stepped growth. A superb sizeable Sapphire from this locality.
