Three superb Smoky Quartz crystals project upwards and outwards at inclined angles from a flattish matrix of cryptocrystalline pale Smoky Quartz. The three display crystals all have perfect terminations with undamaged tips and measure 6.0 x 3.5 x 3.4 cm; 4.8 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm and 4.5 x 2.0 x 2.0 cm. They are a uniform rich clove brown and have near-perfect optical clarity, whereby fine text placed behind any crystal can be read with ease. Each crystal has its own unique development habit, with varying degrees of asymmetry. A beautiful example of alpine Smoky Quartz from the Grimsel area close to Bern in Switzerland.
