Sharp dark brown crystals of dolomite to 0.8 cm in size embedded up on a marl matrix. In good condition.Barranco Salobrai, situated near Teruel in the Aragon region of Spain, features a geological setting composed primarily of Triassic Keuper facies marls and evaporites. Historically, mining and quarrying activities in the immediate area focused mainly on gypsum and local rock materials, but the ravine gained enduring fame among mineral collectors as the classic type locality for a distinctive variety of dolomite. This variety, historically known as teruelite, occurs as sharp, highly lustrous, dark brown to black crystals embedded within the soft surrounding clay and marl matrix. Teruelite is scientifically recognized as an iron-bearing ferroan dolomite displaying a unique pseudo-octahedral or acute rhombohedral crystal habit that sets it apart morphologically from standard dolomite formations.
