Ocean Wave Texture, Deep Blue Hemimorphite Intergrowth Specimen
This specimen is a Blue Aragonite from Wenshan, Yunnan, China. It belongs to the carbonate group, with the chemical formula CaCO₃, and crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. The attractive blue color is considered to be related to trace copper ions.
The specimen shows a striking blue and greenish-white zoning. The blue side consists of dense, spherical, and botryoidal aggregates composed of tiny acicular to fibrous crystals, giving the surface a fuzzy, sugary, and slightly glassy appearance. The greenish-white side forms a more compact massive or fine-crystalline matrix.
Blue aragonite is not common in nature, and specimens with clear blue-green color separation are particularly desirable for collectors. This piece retains natural crystal growth and is suitable for mineral collection, geological display, and desktop decoration.
