Semi lustrous octahedral crystals of galena to 1.7 cm in size across matrix with sparkling black micro sphalerite and minor white dolomite. This is in great condition. Collected by Brian Huntsman in spring, 1995. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. The Brushy Creek Mine, brought into full operation by St. Joe Minerals in November 1973 within Reynolds County, Missouri, is a key industrial underground facility situated in the central part of the world-class Viburnum Trend. Geologically, the deposit belongs to the Mississippi Valley-type family, featuring sulfide mineralization hosted chiefly within the Cambrian Bonneterre Dolomite and overlying buried Proterozoic paleotopographic basement knobs. The mine is celebrated both for its large-scale commercial extraction of lead, zinc, and copper, and for producing exceptional mineral specimens—particularly scalenohedral calcites and iridescent marcasites—recovered from deep underground watercourse cavities.
