Agate

Agatized fossil honeycomb coral (tabulate coral, Favosites-type). The coral's original skeleton has been replaced by translucent chalcedony/agate, so the honeycomb pattern shows through clearly on the cut face.

One face is cut and shows the honeycomb structure and agate replacement. The back is left rough and natural, showing the coral colony. This piece was self-collected in Mississippi.

Natural fossil specimen, not man-made. Any chips or rough edges are shown in the photos.
