Very pale bluish green blocky lustrous crystals of microcline measuring to 4.0 x 4.0 x 3.5 cm in size in a cluster with white crystallized albite. There are no repairs, this is in terrific condition. Collected in the mid 1980s. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.Situated near Crystal Peak in the Pikes Peak batholith of Colorado, the Ten Per Center Claim is celebrated for its rich, miarolitic pegmatite veins. The regional geology features Proterozoic granite bodies honeycombed with vapor-rich pockets that cooled slowly, allowing hydrothermal solutions to precipitate world-class mineral specimens. Historically worked via careful hand tools and underground pitting rather than heavy industrial excavation, the claim has yielded legendary pocket discoveries—most notably massive vugs producing iconic blue-green microcline variety amazonite, dark smoky quartz, and contrasting white albite clusters. Because of the exceptional aesthetic quality and high color contrast of these mineral associations, the site remains a legendary focal point for dedicated recreational miners and professional specimen collectors.
