Tanzanite from Merelani Hills, Manyara Region, Tanzania

This is a glassy, sharp tanzanite crystal with extremely saturated color in all dimensions - purple, blue, and even red (with some yellow) when lit along the vertical axis. The change of colors on the vertical illumination proves that it is natural, unheated to enhance coloration of the blue tones. This is an older style, likely from 2010 or before. The crystal is sharp all around, with superb luster on all sides so that it can be displayed from any angle preferred by personal taste as to which termination face one likes the most. It is 153 grams. It is, in the hand, a very imposing small-cabinet gem crystal.
