A striking vivid green emerald (beryl) crystal prominently perched on a contrasting calcite matrix, accented by a quartz crystal directly attached to the emerald, from the newly discovered (Areb) mines, Panjshir Valley, Afghanistan. The emerald forms a well-defined hexagonal prismatic crystal with a flat, sharp termination, displaying rich saturation and a fresh, lively green hue typical of Panjshir material. The crystal shows good transparency with scattered natural internal features and surface growth textures, enhancing its natural character rather than detracting from its presence. Of particular interest is the attached quartz crystal at the emerald's side, a desirable and uncommon association that adds complexity and aesthetic balance to the specimen. The host matrix consists mainly of creamy to honey-toned calcite, providing a strong color contrast that visually elevates the emerald. The overall composition is compact yet sculptural, with the emerald well-positioned and clearly exposed, making it both a fine collector specimen and an excellent example of this new Panjshir discovery. A highly attractive and interesting emerald specimen, notable for its color, crystal form.
