Mining history in the area dates back centuries, beginning with early tin extraction during the Song Dynasty, followed by the landmark discovery of tungsten in 1907 and systematic industrial production starting in the early 20th century. As a foundational pillar of China's modern mining industry and a celebrated locality for mineral specimens, the site has yielded extensive geological significance and is recognized as an important industrial heritage landmark.
