Attractive blue botryoidal crystallized hemimorphite across the front of this matrix. Slight damage present, still nice for the species and locality. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. His label notes that the piece was collected by Mike Sanders on February 8, 1995 from the 300 level. The 79 Mine, located in the Dripping Spring Mountains of Gila County, Arizona, was discovered in 1879 and features mineralization hosted in fractured sedimentary layers and replacement bodies near igneous intrusions. Initially worked for commercial metals like lead, zinc, and copper through the mid-20th century, the underground workings later became famous among mineral collectors for yielding exceptional secondary oxidation specimens, notably vibrant green smithsonite, hemimorphite, and rare wulfenite crystals.
