Some locales exude provenance as soon as you hear it; the famous, classic tourmaline mines of California are one of those locales! In particular, the Himalaya Mine is an ICONIC locale that has produced several world-class, iconic specimens. The aesthetics, color, and condition of this specimen are uncommon for Himalaya Mine tourmaline, especially in today’s market. It is in remarkable condition for being an old-time classic. This adorable, alluring specimen is quite the display piece. It features two dominant, columnar, intergrown tourmaline 'stalks' that rise dramatically, instantly giving the eye a place to land, adjoined by a smoky quartz sidecar crystal. The whole specimen is a floater, complete all around! This specimen has great aesthetics that really couldn't get any better; it has multiple display angles that present the specimen very well, just depending on what you want to highlight. The tourmaline stalks present themselves robustly, with top-tier rubellite color—an intense, glowing raspberry pink that varies in hues throughout. The tourmalines are both doubly terminated! With the top showing a flat termination, and the bottom showing multiple, rounded, pyramidal pencil-like terminations, both terminations free of damage, a nice cherry on top! The quartz, though on the backside, does show some prior contacting to where it was attached in the matrix pocket, but because it is on the back, it does not take away from the specimen in any way, and can be easily displayed without it in view. With top vibrant color, transparency, and luster, this piece will find a home quickly, so be sure to grab it if you've been on the lookout for a truly fine example of Himalaya Mine material, not only a representative classic. From an old collection, this style was likely mined in the early 1980s under Bill Larson's mining team.
