Tourmaline var. Uvite
This is a rare red Uvite (Tourmaline variety) with fluorescent (LW: orange) Calcite from the Pomba Pit in Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. Uvite is an uncommon Tourmaline variety primarily found in Bahia that most commonly forms green to golden-brown crystals (colored primarily by iron ions) with Magnesite, but, very rarely, forms these deep red crystals (colored primarily by manganese ions) with Calcite. Well-formed crystals are hard to come by, and clusters of them even harder still.
Dimensions: 1.65 x 1.38 x 0.89 in (4.2 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm)
Weight: 37.47 g (1.322 oz)
