Lustrous rich brown crystal 3.8 cm in size embedded up on matrix. Sharp and in very good condition. Choice example for the species. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. The Reese farm locality in St. Lawrence County, New York, historically associated with agricultural land usage and also known as the Bush farm, sits within the Grenville Province, a globally recognized belt of ancient Precambrian rocks. Geologically, the area is defined by deeply eroded and regionally metamorphosed metasedimentary formations, prominently featuring ancient marble sequences and calc-silicate rocks that underwent intense thermal and structural evolution over a billion years ago. Within these complex metamorphic pockets, localized hydrothermal activity and regional tectonic pressures facilitated the crystallization of rare mineral specimens. The site is world-famous among mineral collectors as a classic locality for distinct brown or amber crystals of fluor-uvite, a calcium-rich member of the tourmaline group that frequently displays a characteristic pale-yellow fluorescence under shortwave ultraviolet light.
