Duftite coated Calcite

Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia

11.2 x 7.9 x 5.7 cm

A classic Tsumeb Duftite on Calcite, showing the green on white contrast typical of this Tsumeb material. The plate is built of colorless to off-white, translucent to transparent, rhombohedral Calcite crystals 3.5 to 4.0 cm across. Their top and select side faces are preferentially coated with lustrous, pickle-green Duftite microcrystals, each under 1 mm. A large compound Calcite crystal at front center is composed of numerous individuals in parallel, slightly offset growth and measures 5.5 x 4 cm. The underside is also coated with fine Duftite. The Calcite fluoresces bright orange under shortwave UV
