Metallic crystals of stibnite covering most of the top of matrix. In good condition. A fine locality example for the species.The Quiruvilca Mine, situated in the Santiago de Chuco province of La Libertad, Peru, has a recorded mining history spanning over two centuries, with formal corporate-level extraction beginning in 1907 and continuous industrial operations accelerating around 1940. The mine transitioned through multiple ownership periods--including long-term operation by Pan American Silver from 1995 until 2012--before scaling down and facing closure-related environmental transitions in the 2010s. Geologically, the deposits are hosted within thick, layered volcanic and andesitic rocks of the Miocene Calipuy Formation. The mineral system is characterized by a zoned vein network grading outward from a central high-temperature enargite-dominated mesothermal core to epithermal peripheral zones rich in lead, zinc, copper, and silver-bearing sulfides.
