Attractive cluster of purple blocky lustrous crystals. Fluorescent. In good condition.Ladjuar Medam, located in the remote Sar-e-Sang district of Kuran wa Munjan in the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, is the world's most famous historic source of lapis lazuli, with mining history spanning over six millennia. Geologically, the deposit is situated within high-grade metamorphic rocks of the Hindu Kush mountains, where ancient contact metasomatism occurred between intrusive granitic plutons and surrounding magnesium-rich limestones.
