A very attractive, almost geode-like, elongate vug consisting of Dolomite, Calcite with the rare mineral species of Cronstedite present as sharp crystals in smaller vugs. The exterior is mostly covered in brassy Pyrite, making this a showy piece from this somewhat obscure locality at Wadi Beht in Morocco. This multi-colored combination specimen consists of a thick outer rind composed of a combination of off-white Calcite and pale pink Dolomite. Small cavities within the carbonates host, lustrous, 2 to 5 mm, jet-black crystals of Cronstedite in small groups associated with brassy yellow Pyrite making for a very captivating combination. The very center of the larger vug is lined with fine-grained, pinkish-tan Dolomite with some of it as crystals to 2 mm. The exterior of the piece is a display specimen in its own right with coarse, translucent Calcite crystals nearly 2 cm accompanied and somewhat intergrown with super brassy yellow, 2 to 3 mm, scintillating, cubo-octahedrons all over the outer surface. This is both a handsome and interesting cabinet piece. The colors, the contrast and composition of the piece makes it attractive for what it is. It is in excellent condition and very rare for the locality. From the collection of Alfredo Petrov (Alfredopetrovite is named in his honor), well-known specialist in both sulfides and in Japanese and Bolivian minerals.
