Colorless crystallized strontianite rich across the front of matrix. Good example for this classic Pennsylvania locality for the species. In good condition.The Faylor-Middle Creek Quarry, located near Winfield in Union County, Pennsylvania, is an active commercial aggregate quarry that has operated for decades, supplying crushed stone for regional construction while gaining widespread fame among mineral collectors. Geologically, the quarry is excavated primarily in the Silurian-aged Tonoloway Formation, which consists of bedded limestone and dolostone. Mineralization occurs within vugs and hydrothermal cross-cutting veins, where low-temperature solutions deposited carbonate and sulfate minerals. The site is particularly celebrated by mineral enthusiasts for producing specimens of acicular, spiky white to colorless strontianite crystals forming delicate sprays and radial aggregates, frequently associated with transparent calcite, celestine, and pyrite.
