Jeremejevite is an exceptionally rare species in pegmatites and on the few occasions that it does occur it is usually only seen as loose, small, individual crystals, but are one of the most sought-after of the rare gem-species due to its magnificent cornflower blue colour. Matrix-hosted specimens are so rarely seen, and even at the famous deposit at Ameib Farm 60 in the Erongo Mountains, Namibia they are usually still quite small. Small cabinet in size, and hosted by a bed of terminated Smoky Quartz crystals this is a truly remarkable specimen of this rare aluminium fluoro-borate. Not only is this a rare matrix specimen, but the three Jeremejevite crystals have good colour too (a rich pale cornflower blue), and reach to 2.4 cm in length. They might not have well-defined terminations and are internally fractured, but they stand out wonderfully well against the contrasting dark coloured Smoky Quartz and possess small gemmy sections. This makes for an extremely rare combination and on the reverse small very dark purple to black tourmaline crystals occur in small sprays.
