This interesting location Cassiterite comes from the rarely seen Savath China Clay Pit at Lockengate, Luxulyan, Cornwall. It has to its rear an unusual oval-shaped blue-rimmed label believed to be from the famous collection of Col. Sir William Serjeant (1857-1930) who lived nearby at St. Benet's Abbey, Lanivet, but his labels, although rimmed in the same colour, are normally larger and octagonal in shape. Not really crystallized as such, it consists of granitic matrix on one side of which spots of resinous brown Cassiterite are concentrated in a vein with a few crystal faces here and there. Ex Bruce Grant Collection, no. 1503.
