Tanzanite is the blue to purple gem variety of zoisite, with the most famous locality being the Merelani Hills in Tanzania. This crystal is very representative of the find with a lovely combination of blue and violet. The crystal has outstanding clarity, color, and luster. This crystal displays less dichroism in plane polarized light likely indicating it has been heat treated as the majority of this material has been. An excellent tanzanite specimen for the avid gem collector.
