Fluorite, Quartz
Fluorite and quartz, 15.2 cm, from the Yaogangxian mine, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China. Opened around 1914, the Yaogangxian mine is one of the many tungsten mines in China that together produce 75% of the world’s tungsten supply. The vein deposit commonly also produces quartz in association with fluorite in a variety of colors, in addition to collector specimens of arsenopyrite, bournonite, calcite, chalcopyrite and scheelite.
