Morganite crystal on blue-cap tourmaline (nicknamed “The Button”), 12.7 cm, from the Tourmaline Queen mine, Pala, San Diego County, California. Found January 19, 1972; repaired in one place, with a small restoration. Ex Stuart Wilensky, Peter Via and Dave Wilber collections. This was Dave’s favorite specimen in his famous collection of Tourmaline Queen mine minerals. Beth Van Allen photo, courtesy of The Arkenstone. It is not true that the morganite screws in. We checked.
