Smithsonite from Greece, Attica, Lavrion Mining District, Sounion

Thessaloniki, GreeceThis piece is unreal. The main mineral is of course the wonderful, apple-green smithsonite. There is a nearly complete ball of malachite after azurite that is covered with smithsonite. White calcite on top adds contrast. Blue aurichalcite and colorless little crystals of hemimorphite add to this magnificent paragenesis. From my personal collection, #146.
