Greenockite occurs alongside sphalerite, pyrite, and other sulfides, with some specimens displaying a vivid contrast against darker gangue minerals. While it can be found in minor quantity in several ore belts, the best crystallized pieces tend to be sought after by collectors for their color, shape, and the context of classic mining districts.
