PARAVAUXITE with Greenockite

Unknown Owner
Paravauxite is one of a remarkable four species all named after American collector, George Vaux, Jr. (1863-1927) and all first discovered at Siglo Veinte mine in Bolivia. Paravauxite was the second of these species identified, and was described simultaneously with Vauxite in 1922, with 'Para' used to show that its composition was 'near' to that of Vauxite, just slightly more hydrated. This well-crystallized miniature specimen of Paravauxite features many really sharp bladed triclinic crystals to 4 mm in length lining a cavity with minor poorly crystallized crusts of orange Greenockite. The Paravauxite crystals are the classic pale cream colour and translucent to transparent. Ex David Hardman Collection.
