Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum - Nanjing 2026 For many Westerners, the name, "Sun Yat-sen" may not mean very much. However, to millions of Chinese people, Sun Yat-sen is a name that is revered by all as he is considered the, "Father of Modern China." It would take way too long to list all of Sun Yat-sen's accomplishments here but one only need to do a quick Google search on the name to begin to understand the scope of who he was and what he accomplished. In a nutshell, he ended the over 2,000-year-old Imperial rule in China and created the blueprint by which China has become a modern super power. He passed away from cancer in 1925 and his final wish was for his body to be moved from Beijing and buried in Nanjing as Nanjing was the birthplace of China's provisional government that overthrew the Qing Dynasty in 1911. A mausoleum was completed in 1929 at the foot of the Purple Mountains overlooking Nanjing and it is here that we visit in this video. Arguably this is one of the most important cultural and historic sites of modern China and it's beautiful, entertaining and immensely educational. A visit to the mausoleum, and it's nearby Sun Yat-sen museum, is essential to anyone who wants to understand the history of China and how it became the powerhouse it is today. And just to put it all in perspective, outside of Asia there are memorials and statues of Sun Yat-sen all over the world including places like, New York City, Vancouver, Hawai'i, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Toronto, Melbourne and even a hill on Mars was named by NASA after him.

CIMGE Gift Shop - 2026 Nanjing Show It's no surprise that a major mineral show would have a gift shop where people could purchase related items as a keepsake or as a way to stay more involved in the hobby. And while, in the West, we're used to seeing the same kind of gifts in shops like this, here in Nanjing, we're exposed to a whole different level of products that amuse, involve and educate the general public. Come with us now as we explore this wonderful gift shop at the 2026 CIMGE Show and have quite a few laughs at the wonderful and genius gifts available for purchase. Perhaps there's a few gems we in the West can adopt for our shows.

Dinosaur Animatronic - 2026 Nanjing Show I grew up in Southern California so Disneyland was a special treat that my parents would take me to on occasion. The Pirates of the Caribbean made me fall in love with animatronics and that love has never faded. So imagine my joy when I found an animatronic on the floor of the 2026 CIGME Show in Nanjing! And apparently I wasn't the only one who loved it. A dinosaur animatronic. Pretty darn cool!!!

Our First Taste of Yeye - 2026 Nanjing Show At BlueCap Productions, we always try to eat well. But, I have to admit, I do have a bit of a weakness for sweets. But what happens when you combine minerals AND sweets? OMG. You have Yeye. The Yeye booth at the 2026 CIMGE Show in Nanjing was a little palaka-decorated booth we happened to discover as we were walking down the main aisle at the show. We heard, "candy" and we heard, "cake" and we just HAD to stop. As it turns out, Yeye sells these fruit-based, mineral candies that come in a box of six that are all shaped like minerals. Morganite/Aquamarine, Topaz, Amethyst, Rhodochrosite, Fluorite and Tiger's Eye. And then they have two cake offerings - Sweet Home Rhodochrosite (dark chocolate-coated lemon pound cake) and Azurite Suns (Orange peel brownies). These were not only beautiful, there were DELICIOUS too!! We hope to see a lot more of Yeye in the future!!!

Nanjing Impressions - 2026 Nanjing Show If you've looked into the history of mineral collecting in China, you've no doubt heard the word, "View Stones" in your searches. Collecting View Stones was one of the earlier forms of mineral collecting in this country. But what are View Stones and why do people find them interesting enough to collect? Well, on the floor of the 2026 CIMGE Show here in Nanjing, we found Nanjing Impressions and color us impressed!! In this clip we walk you through some of the outstanding examples of View Stones that this company has on display and we think it'll tickle you as much as it did us.

Collector's Edge - 2026 Nanjing Show One of the great Western mineral dealers in the world has been supporting the Nanjing Show for YEARS and has been a standard on the floor every year we've attended. That company is The Collector's Edge out of Golden, Colorado and in this clip, we get together with TCE President Bryan Lees. Bryan takes the time to give us a REALLY good understanding of the China mineral market and of the Nanjing Show altogether. This reflects Bryan's deep understanding and involvement in the China mineral market and it's a real treat to hear Bryan's perspectives. Consider this a Master Class on the Chinese mineral market.

Dinner Buffet at Shangri-La - 2026 Nanjing Show Our first full night in Nanjing and we decided to try the dinner buffet at the Shangri-La Hotel where I was staying. There were, at least, three eating establishments in the Shangri-La - a high-end restaurant requiring reservations at least 24-hours prior, a Chinese restaurant that was very popular and crowded and the dinner buffet on the 2nd floor. The buffet had quite a selection of foods and drinks for visitors from Western food to Chinese food and everything in-between.

Pre-Show Walkthough - 2026 Nanjing Show We arrive at the Exhibit Hall in Nanjing during the final day of set up just to take a look around. A LOT of new Chinese dealers are setting up on the floor and the overall quality of the exhibit booths have really taken a large step up. Western Dealers The Collector's Edge and Fine Art Minerals are both present but, new for 2026, The Munich Show has a booth at the entrance to the Main Hall. As we were filming, Christoph Keilmann, Show Organizer for both the Munich Show and HardRock Summit (aka The Denver Show) happens to stop by so we chat with him for a bit. Then we complete our tour of the Main Hall and discover a brand new section at the far end of the Hall. Pangea. It's a combination of exhibit space and dealer space and it's kind of interesting.

Shangri-La Hotel - 2026 Nanjing Show It's 2026 and we're trying out a new hotel close to the Exhibit Hall. It's the Shangri-La Hotel right on the edge of Xuanwu Lake. This is a bit of a step up from the hotel we normally stay at as we explore the lodging options available to visitors to the CIMGE Show here in Nanjing. One of the coolest things we see are the fleet of delivery robots that work here at the hotel. That's right. Anything you order and have delivered to you at the hotel are brought to your room via automated robots. Veeery cool. The Shangri-La Hotel. Right in the heart of Nanjing.

SIM Card at Nanjing Airport - 2026 Nanjing Show Once we clear Immigration and Customs, we exit into the public area of the Nanjing airport and immediately go to the Jiangsu Tourism Information Center located right across from the Immigration exit. A sign in front of the booth shows the three options they have for China SIM cards that you can purchase and put into your phone. All options are incredibly affordable with the only differences being your length of stay (so the period of time during which the SIM card will be active), the number of minutes for phone calls and, most importantly, the number of gigabytes (GB) of cellular data you will receive with each package. It's important to note that in China, they DO NOT use eSIM cards. They ONLY use physical SIM cards so if your phone ONLY uses eSIMs, then you can't put a Chinese SIM card into your phone. For example, ALL USA-based iPhones that are Models 14 or newer CAN NOT accept physical SIM cards so this option is not available for you. The second thing to note is that these physical SIM cards CAN NOT be recharged without going to a China Mobile store to get a new physical SIM card. If you have any doubt, just get a larger amount of GBs than you think you might need. The difference between 30GB and 80GB is less than $15 USD. The way that I do SIMs when I travel is to leave my main phone (iPhone) untouched. I always bring a spare Samsung phone with me that can accept physical SIM cards and I use that phone as my local phone. Later in this series I'm going to post an in-depth test I did in China that compares many different ways of getting mobile data and I look at the pros and cons of each. Physical SIMs, eSIMs, different mobile WiFis and more.

Arrival in Nanjing - 2026 Nanjing Show We arrive in Nanjing, China mid-morning and notice that there's a lot more smog in the air as we're coming in for a landing. This is the first time in three years we've seen it like this. Once we're off the plane, we're again struck at the size of the Nanjing airport compared to the number of people actually in the airport. Going through Immigration and Customs is no problem (as usual) BUT we experience a brand new interaction as we're asking for directions. The result is REALLY surprising to us because it's so well thought out and executed all for the convenience of the traveler. And, of course, the best part of arriving in Nanjing is seeing our friend Alina again!!! Keep tuned for more from the 2026 CIMGE Show in Nanjing, China!!
