Genthelviteは亜鉛ベリリウムシリケート鉱物で、 typically forms prismatic or tabular crystals with a vitreous to resinous luster. It often displays a pink to brownish-red color and can occur as well-formed crystals in pegmatites and hydrothermal veins. The mineral is associated with high-temperature, silica-undersaturated environments and can occur in radial or prismatic aggregates, sometimes showing zonation that hints at its growth history.

Specimens with sharp terminations and clean faces are especially sought after, reflecting careful crystallization conditions that historians of mineralogy use to infer the geological history of the host deposit.
