    Spotlight on Aquamarine

It appears that the federal government in Pakistan has imposed a 60-day ban on the import and export of gold, diamonds, gemstones and jewellery, with immediate effect. And that got us thinking what could happen to the price of aquamarine if the ban is extended.

Pakistan is a major supplier of aquamarine, and specimens from the Shigar Valley come with amazing color and clarity. It is too early to tell whether the ban will affect the mineral market, but we have refined the localities in our aquamarine database, and here are the alternative sources.

    1. Namibia - 276 total - 16 for sale

    2. Brazil - 186 total - 25 for sale - Brazil is the world's leader in aquamarine production

    3. USA - 110 total - 12 for sale
