A very aesthetic and desirable thumbnail of this calcium oxalate mineral species, whewellite: a mineral with highly unusual chemistry and mass as if you are holding air, rather than a mineral species. This is a sharp twinned crystal that is a full size thumbnail, ghostly white whewellite crystal. It comes from the famous find in the 1970s (yes, we know just by looking at it - these are well documented!). Crystals like this from this find were excellent for the species and are now few and far between. Alex bought this as a competitive specimen for his core rare species suite within the larger thumbnail collection. Smaller, more transparent crystals do exist, but only even more rare...and not of the size he wanted for a full TN size.
