This beautiful soft blue to icy-blue aggregate of cubic Fluorite crystals comes from one of the classic German localities: Clara mine, Rankach Valley, in the Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Known for a diverse range of colours and complex crystallographic forms (usually seen in microcrystals), this superb large miniature specimen is dominated by one extremely sharp and mostly transparent straightforward cube, with sides reaching over 2.2 cm in length, this piece really does stand out well against others from this famous mine. Flashes of orange-brown colour imparted from small patches of Siderite crystals add a different touch, if it were needed, but ultimately it is its bluish colour that gives this specimen its distinctive edge over the more typical colourless larger Fluorites from Clara. Other smaller sharp cubic crystals, some twinned within the main display cube are seen around the sides of this lovely piece. Ex Hettrich Collection.
