Spinel on Calcite

Cal Graeber mined this small deposit at the Raziki Mine, Taita-Taveta District, Eastern Province, Kenya in June 1994 with John Saul , finding about 30 pieces, the best of which sold for $25,000 to a museum in Paris. They only mined for about a year.

Ex Carl Acosta, who acquired it from the George Holloway collection in about 2010.
