A lustrous tetrahedrite cluster on chalcopyrite matrix with minor quartz crystals. The mine produced good crystals at only two locations, and these would have come from one of those. A glittering specimen with sharp edges and some minor damage visible. This specimen is from the collection of Jerry North who worked as a geologist at the Bingham Canyon Mine for 20 years. While employed by Kennecott, he was tasked to collect mineral specimens for the company collection. Through this role he was able to assemble one of the most comprehensive and diverse private mineral collections ever put together from this historic locality. The Bingham Canyon Mine is one of the largest open pit mines in the world but a surprisingly small number of mineral specimens are seen for sale from this important American locality.
